The Move-Out Cleaning Checklist Idaho Falls Renters Need

Most security-deposit disputes come down to cleaning, not damage. A move-out clean that only covers what a regular weekly visit would cover almost always falls short of what a landlord or property manager is actually inspecting.

What Gets Checked

Walkthroughs tend to focus on the details a normal week-to-week clean skips: inside the oven and refrigerator, under and behind appliances, inside every cabinet and drawer, baseboards, window tracks and sills, light fixtures, and bathroom grout. Scuffed walls and nail holes are a landlord's issue to handle, not yours — but a home that's merely "tidy" instead of genuinely deep-cleaned is the single most common reason a deposit gets docked.

A Realistic Checklist

  • Kitchen: inside oven, stovetop and hood, refrigerator (inside and out, unplugged and defrosted if needed), inside cabinets and drawers, backsplash, sink and faucet
  • Bathrooms: tub/shower and grout, toilet base and behind it, mirrors, cabinets, exhaust fan
  • Whole home: baseboards, door frames, light switches, vents, window sills and tracks, closets shelving
  • Floors: vacuumed and mopped last, after everything above is done

Why We Treat It as a Deep Clean, Not a Tidy-Up

Our move-in/move-out service is built around that full list, not a shortened version of a regular visit — because "good enough for a normal week" and "good enough for a landlord walkthrough" are two different bars. That's true whether it's a family home in Idaho Falls or a rental turnover near BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.
